Polimetrix, a Silicon Valley-based start up, is launching a spin off
focused
on Democratic and progressive political data, analytics, and targeting. We
seek a top-notch Python programmer to join our team as a junior or
mid-level
software developer in Washington, DC.

Your job is to help design, build, deploy and maintain voter database
applications built in Python. We are creating cutting-edge tools for record
linkage, fuzzy matching, and data cleanup and enhancement, and you will
develop the next generation of these tools. You participate in all
stages of
software development on a small team using modern engineering principles:
object-oriented design, iterative development, unit testing. Most
importantly, you have a passion for your work and enjoy learning new
things.
If you like creative problem-solving and you thrive in a fast-paced, start
up-like environment, this job is a perfect fit. An interest in politics is
great, but not required.

You possess:
  # Knowledge of dynamic languages, especially Python
  # About 2 years' experience programming Linux and Windows systems
  # Strong communication and writing skills
  # Understanding of UI principles and web design

Your responsibilities include:
  # Design and development of grid software and front ends
  # Gathering and reviewing user requirements
  # Writing and executing test cases and unit tests
  # Documentation and user support

If you meet these requirements and are intrigued by the job, please
submit a
cover letter, resume, and code samples to the dc_jobs at polimetrix.com
