I thought this might be interesting to some on the list. We are looking
for a person with a good deal of Zope experience for a new position we
are hiring here at NCSU. If you or anyone you know would be interested
in the position that follows, please apply.
Does anyone have any suggestions of places to post the job description
in hope of getting people with Zope experience? We have found that, so
far, this is not a trivial task.
NC State University, Distance Education and Learning Technology
Applications (DELTA), is seeking a Web Application Developer, (12-month,
EPA Professional position). This position reports to the Associate
Manager of Technology Development within DELTA (http://delta.ncsu.edu).
Primary Functions of the Position:
Duties include producing technologies in support of instruction and
designing and developing projects and systems, determining scope of need
and most effective methods of production and support for a variety of
online educational offerings at NC State. The Web Application Developer
will facilitate and inform the development of instructional projects
individually or as a member of a production team. Our opening requires a
person who will be an inspiring mentor to the software development team
and will be able to communicate effectively with clients, computer
programmers and designers. Our primary development platform is based on
Zope architecture. The successful candidate will have a strong
background in Zope development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop Web-based solutions with the ability for user
interactivity and on-line data access.
* Take high-level requirements and develop a WEB based utility to
fulfill those requirements including code writing and testing.
* Analyze, troubleshoot, and solve integrated software problems
* Play an active role in the IT organization by suggesting,
recommending, and documenting development standards.
* Work independently to develop requirement and functional
specifications for new applications and for enhancements to
existing high impact DELTA applications.
* Analyze, develop, implement and support front-end applications
as enhancements to existing mission critical DELTA applications.
* Take an active lead in group software development projects.
* Assist other developers in specific technologies and development
* Assist in design of strategic development platforms.
* Strong commitment to the principles of trust, teamwork and

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:
Required: A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field and
three or more years of experience in designing, building, and deploying
Intranet/Internet applications. Strong aptitude in determining
organization, customer requirements, and transforming those into
technical solutions in a cost effective manner. Strong, demonstrated
skills in the following areas: Object Oriented Analysis and Design
concepts, Zope, Python, HTML, XML, and other scripting languages.
Technical proficiency with Linux and Unix platforms, including
installation and management of web application deployment and
development software. Preferred: Experience with development tools such
as Java, SQL, Perl, and C++ are strongly preferred.
