I've CC'd the Python-grants list on my reply.

I haven't tried building a KNOPPIX distribution. what is the process for
building the ISO for the CDROM? I assume this is something you are doing on
your own server at the moment. Can this be done as a collaborative project?
Would it be practical to assign the installation of individual packages,
applications and documents to maintainers? Or does this just require
selecting names to submit to apt-get? Would using starship.python.net, or
possibly on one of the new servers that are suppose to be available for
www.Python.org from XS4ALL be helpful? (I'm still waiting to hear about the
new python.org systems.) Or would you prefer to keep the work on your system?

We should be able to get the ISO located on python.org once it is finished. I
would suggest that BitTorrent be used for serving the ISO files. We'll need
to talk with the python.org folks about setting that up, but I think that can
weight until there is a CDROM for them to evaluate. It would be useful to
also make the Python core releases available through BitTorrent as well.
